"I went for the heaviest board with plywood backing ( I hate MDF ) because It was going down on a concrete base and I did not want it to lift. I was able to justify the purchase of a saw table which made cutting the wood very neat and did a good job cutting a neat piece off the bottom of the door. A mitre saw is essential for the corners of the beading. The hardest part is cutting out shapes rather than straight lines. It is not recommended to use this product in a cloakroom but I took the risk because the floor looks beautiful and we won’t let the grandchildren splash water around. Finally I finished off under the door with an offcut of darkened pine beading which I have had in the shed for over 30 years. My wife is pleased with my work and I am so glad I persuaded her to give up on cold ceramic tiling and have this warm rustic look instead. Fantastic product and a joy to work with as a DIY project. Hi Do you recommend this flooring for new build houses with possibly height moisture content? And if so , do furniture foot leave marks on these? Thanks.: Hello, thank you for getting in touch! If you were to lay this flooring in a new build property, we would recommend using the Primer to damp-proof any concrete sub-floors. You could also use an underlay with a Damp Proof Membrane built-in. I would recommend the Timberlay Gold: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/timberlay-gold-underlay.html. Wood is hygroscopic and can absorb moisture from the air. If you are aware moisture is an issue, I would recommend alternative products such as EvoCore: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/evocore-flooring I hope this helps! Hi how do you recommend cleaning this floor? Can it be mopped? And would it easily mark as we have springers who tend to be a bit lively and myddy: Hello, thank you for getting in touch! This floor is not waterproof, so care should be taken when cleaning, and the surface should be left dry when finished to prevent damage. You can use a semi-dry mop, we also supply the Elite Wood Flooring Kit for best results: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/impero-elite-wood-flooring-cleaning-kit.html This flooring is Brushed and Lacquered, so it will offer moderate protection, but it is not scratch-resistant so care should be taken to prevent any damage. If you prefer something more durable, I would recommend our EvoCore range which is fully waterproof and scratch-resistant. Can it be used in bathroom & Kitchens: Hello, thank you for getting in touch! I would not recommend using this flooring in a bathroom. Engineered Wood flooring is not suitable for high moisture areas as this can warp the planks.
