Q&A

We installed this flooring around 5 years ago in the conservatory. Unfortunately we had a leak and a large patch of flooring was soaked. This has removed the top coat and the colour - the patch is now almost white. I noticed previous answers mention re-oiling using clear Osmo Polyx-oil. Will this be enough to restore the colour (Farmhouse Natural Oak) or would I need to stain it first? If so, can you recommend a stain please?: Hello, thank you for getting in touch! In this case, I would recommend firstly ensuring the flooring is fully dried out, then resanding the whole floor so it is all uniform. Once you get it to this point, you can then reseal with a Clear Omso Oil. I would also like to say engineered wood really does not like water, so please monitor the area for lifting, buckling or mould. To install Farmhouse - Natural Oak, we would recommend fitting it as a floating floor. Hello, is it essential to glue the tongue and groove as I always thought this was to allow movement with humidity variations.: Hello, thank you for getting in touch! I can confirm you do require the Wood Adhesive in the tongue and grooves. Unfortunately, liquid (Champagne) has been spilt on a section of this newly laid flooring and has gone unnoticed for a day or so and has properly soaked in and dried... Am I right in thinking the best way to rectify this would be to sand this area? If I do that, can you let me know which oil product to apply to the sanded area? You can email photos to [email protected] so we can assess the damage and advise accordingly, but it does sound like this would need to be sanded down and re-oiled however you would need to do the whole flooring not just one small patch, to keep the flooring level as sanding typically removes 1mm from the surface.
