Q&A
- Hi, is there an engineered version of this floor? If so, please could you direct me to the appropriate link? I love the shade of brown and texture of this but we're looking at installing acoustic soundproofing and underfloor underneath.
- Hello, thank you for getting in touch! We have a range of Dark Herringbone Engineered Wood Flooring available: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/herringbone-flooring/engineered--dark. The closest option, I believe, would be the following product: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/branscombe-vintage-pier-herringbone-oak-engineered-wood-flooring.html. I hope this helps! If there is anything else we can assist with, please do not hesitate to get back in touch! Kind Regards, Katie.
- Can this flooring be used in a kitchen/diner?
- Hello, thank you for getting in touch! This Solid Wood flooring can be installed in these areas. However, please be aware Solid Wood can buckle and rise if exposed to water or high humidity frequently. It is important to keep the floor dry to ensure this does not happen. If you would prefer a waterproof flooring, I would recommend our EvoCore products. The 'Nature' range, in particular, is a great alternative to Solid Wood, and features a Real Wood layer: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/evocore-flooring/nature I hope this helps if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me. Kind Regards, David.
- What is the actual thickness of the oak on top and how many times would you be able sand it down? Also how often would you need to oil it in high traffic areas?
- Hello, thank you for getting in touch! I can confirm this is a fully Solid Wood flooring with a plank thickness of 20mm. This floor can be sanded up to 8 times without compromising the timber. For domestic use, we recommend to oil wooden flooring every 2 years, you may want to do this sooner depending on how much your flooring is used, for more detailed information about this please see our blog post here: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/dwfblog/oiling-wood-floors. I hope this helps if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me. Kind Regards, David.
- What underlay/glue do I use?
- Hello, thank you for getting in touch! We would recommend using the following Impero Wood Flooring Adhesive: https://www.flooringsuperstore.com/impero-wood-flooring-adhesive.html this will cover 15m2 per 15kg tub, you would glue the Solid Wood flooring directly to your subfloor without the use of Underlay. I hope this helps if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. Kind Regards, David.
- Can this Park Av Herringbone Espresso Solid Oak be used on top of Underfloor heating ? Additionally for bonding, is it ok to use 6mm plywood instead of screed? Finally would underlay be required and if so, in what layering order would it be applied starting from underfloor heating plates.
- Hello, thank you for getting in touch! Apologies, as this is a Solid Wood, this is not suitable for use with underfloor heating. We would recommend Engineered Parquet as a good alternative. Please see the following link to our Engineered Parquets: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/parquet-flooring/engineered. Using a Plywood base would be ideal for both Solid and Engineered Woods. If you choose to use an Engineered Wood, we would recommend the following Underlay: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/timberlay-heatflow-underlay.html This will ensure the heat is filtered through the boards correctly. For installation I would recommend the following adhesive: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/impero-grip-adhesive-glue.html I hope this helps if you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to contact us. Kind regards, David.
