- Is it really ok to put this solid floor in the kitchen? I want to use it in an open plan space but I’ve heard solid wood isn’t good in the kitchen
- Hello! Thank you for getting in touch! While it isn't best to use solid wood in the kitchen due to the moisture levels, you can use engineered wood. Solid wood isn't entirely unsuitable but is not the best in kitchen areas. Here are a couple of alternatives that are engineered woods with a similar colour: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/studio-chocolate-oak-lacquered-engineered-wood-flooring.html or https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/studio-coffee-oak-brushed-lacquered-engineered-wood-flooring.html. I hope this helps, and if you need any further assistance, please come back to us! Kind regards, Cassidy.
- I'm laying this in a dining area, can I use Osmo Polyx Oil 375ml - Glossy 3011 on it to give added protection and make it easier to clean? Thanks in advance.
- Hello, thank you for getting in touch. Yes, we would always advise giving your new flooring an extra layer of Oil once installed. Instead of the 3011 Osmo Oil, I would recommend the following product: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/osmo-polyx-oil-anti-slip-extra-clear-3089.html. This one is extra clear, so will have the least impact on the colour of your flooring. In terms of cleaning, we would recommend a spray mop and use a solution that is designed for oiled wood. Please see the following recommended product: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/impero-elite-wood-flooring-cleaning-kit.html. I hope this helps, and if you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to get back in touch. Kind Regards, Kimberley.
- Can this be nailed down? I want to avoid using adhesives due to possible VOCs
- Hello, thank you for getting in touch. This flooring can indeed be nailed down. We would recommend using the secret nailing method, which is explained in more detail in the following blog post: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/dwfblog/part-5-fitting-method-wood-floor. We stock the following Fixing Screws which can be used for this: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/elka-tongue-tite-fixing-screws.html. I hope this helps, and if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. Kind Regards, David.
- Is this floor suitable for underfloor electric heating?
- Hello, thank you for getting in touch! Apologies, as this is Solid Wood it would not be suitable for any form of Under Floor Heating. Engineered Wood, however, can be used with UFH provided the temperature does not exceed 27 degrees. Please see the following recommended Engineered Wood and Underlay: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/engineered-wood-flooring/dark, https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/19508/s/evocore-360-underlay/category/782/. I hope this helps! If there is anything else we can assist with, please do not hesitate to get back in touch! Kind Regards, Alex
- Would this be ok on a bathroom floor ?
- Hello, thank you for getting in touch! I'm afraid as this is Solid Wood, it cannot be installed in a bathroom as this is not moisture resistant. Instead, I would recommend looking at our EvoCore Nature range as this is 100% waterproof and has a real wood layer: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/evocore-flooring/nature. I hope this helps! If there is anything else we can assist with, please do not hesitate to get back in touch. Kind Regards, Katie.
